Farmers Bank of Rustico

Activities & Programming > Farmers Bank of Rustico

The Farmers Bank at Rustico has had a place in Acadian communities since 1861. The tours offered by the museum give a unique insight into the lives of the Acadians of Rustico, and tell the story of how the smallest bank in Canada allowed its community to thrive, under the direction of Father Belcourt. In addition to the bank itself, the site also boasts the Doucet Log House exhibit. The house was built in 1772 and is the oldest known house on Prince Edward Island. The museum also hosts many cooking events, where bread is cooked in our authentic Acadian bread oven, and the smell of chicken fricot wafts from the fireplace to inside the Doucet House, offering a delicious and authentic culinary experience.

Open daily from July to September with guided tours and special events such as Acadian lunches and musical events. Please visit their website for more info.
